In honor of National Autism Awareness Month, The Microsoft Store and Autism Alliance of Michigan have partnered up to host a day-long, educational event about resources that can help those affected by autism and other disabilities. The inaugural Rise Assistive Technology Summit will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Microsoft Headquarters in Southfield (1000 Town Center, #2000).
The free summit will focus primarily on assistive technology options. Those who work, teach or live with someone who could benefit from assistive technology — such as professionals, educators, therapists and families of persons with disabilities — are highly encouraged to attend. The event will also offer specific courses on assessment and vocabulary building for augmentative communication users.
Community members are welcome to drop in for device help or visit the vendor fair.
Parking is free and accessible in the garage. People interested in attending are encouraged to reserve a seat in advance at: https://autismallianceofmichigan.org/event/
